The wood surface (omote) has no knots, while the back (ura) has some branch knots and ingrown bark, which I think adds a nice accent. The ingrown bark has been left as is. Mainly in the center, there is a fine, rippling grain pattern. It has a bright and vibrant color, typical of Keyaki. As this is 100% natural material, naturally dried, and handcrafted, there may be warping, bending, drying cracks, grain reversal, scratches, stains, insect damage, ingrown bark, chips, and slight dimensional errors.
