This might have been a common sight in old homes. It's a small wooden box made with Hakone Yosegi-zaiku marquetry. As I've gotten older, I've come to realize that things I took for granted are actually part of what makes Japan so wonderful. However, because I love wood, my collection of small boxes has grown... and I'm running out of space. I'm listing this in the hopes that someone who appreciates it will want it. Photos 1-4 show the lid being slid open. The handle金具 (metal fitting) is a little loose, but the construction is like in photo 7, so I suppose it can't be helped. I think it's fine as long as it doesn't break. It has been stored for many years, so there is some age-related deterioration. Please check the photos and consider before purchasing.
