This is a five-inch plate with a phoenix design, purchased from an antique art dealer. I liked the elaborate design and brought it home with me. The highlight is the phoenix in the center of the plate. The twisted petals draw your eyes to the center. The phoenix is very carefully drawn. The cloud arabesque pattern creates a fantastic atmosphere. The border pattern is arabesque with circles. Because of the lines and circles, it also looks like a "yoraku" pattern (a type of Buddhist decorative element). This is also carefully drawn to match the edge. The body of the plate has flowers depicted on it. The growth of the flowers from small buds to blooming is depicted. It's stylish. There is a mark on the bottom of the foot. It is said to be from around the Meiji era. There is some warping in the foot. There are no noticeable large scratches. There are only slight scuffs. Other than that, it looks like kiln marks.
