The manufacturer's suggested retail price at the time of release was 49,800 yen. It is the next-generation machine of the PC Engine, co-developed with Hudson. This machine, which had the function of playing videos at high speed, featured game software centered on animation, but it lost the share war (next-generation game console war) with Sega Enterprises (now Sega)'s Sega Saturn and Sony Computer Entertainment (now Sony Interactive Entertainment)'s PlayStation, which were released in the same year, and withdrew in 1998.
