This is a purification wand, called "Oonusa" (大麻) in Japanese, a Shinto ritual item. The size is approximately 91 cm in length. It is handmade. The white, jagged paper on this Oonusa represents lightning, and it seems to be an image of the gods descending to earth with thunder. Please enshrine it in your home's kamidana (神棚 - Shinto altar).
