Through Yukawa's reasoning and the investigations of Kusanagi and Utsumi, the suspects are gradually narrowed down. What came into view in the process was the complex relationships of the theater company members centered around Komai. Satomi Kudo, the heroine, is Komai's lover, and Atsuko Kanbara, an actress and scriptwriter, is his ex-lover. Both have sufficient motives for murder. Furthermore, the complex feelings of Yumiko Abe, an actress and costume designer, and Torataro Kinami, an actor and stage carpenter, towards Komai are intertwined, and the investigation becomes difficult.
