This is a cup & saucer set in the Swan Inn pattern, made by Broadhurst, a company founded in England in 1847. Production was from the 1960s to the 1970s. The Swan Inn pattern also comes in red, brown, and blue, but the green is very popular and not often seen. Plates are relatively easy to find, but the cup & saucer sets are rare. There were 4 sets, and this is the last one. The saucer and cup depict a scene of a British town, with a fortress-like building on a distant hill. (Photos 8, 13) There is a sign of a swan, which seems to be the origin of the pattern's name. Broadhurst closed its kilns in 1983, so these items are only available as existing pieces. The condition is glossy and beautiful with no noticeable damage. There are some slight scratches from cup contact in the center of the saucer, but they are only visible up close and are not very noticeable due to the overall pattern. Although in beautiful condition, this is a vintage item that is 50-60 years old. Please understand the characteristics of vintage items, such as ink smudges from manufacturing, black spots on the fabric, slight unevenness of the fabric, and saucer marks.
