In Japanese history, until the early Edo period, fish were kept in various wooden containers like Hinoki cypress boxes and buckets, instead of glass tanks or bowls, and were enjoyed as a source of healing by people who viewed them from above. Tono Hinoki = Known for its beautiful wood grain, luster, and fragrance, it is used in places like the Geku (Outer Shrine) of Ise Jingu Shrine in Mie Prefecture. We use the highest grade Tono Hinoki, famous in Gifu Prefecture. Each piece is handcrafted by skilled artisans using Tono Hinoki.
