This is an old Wajima-nuri lacquerware bowl. It has a simple, rounded design with a gold rim and vermilion lacquer that shines with age. While it lacks the flamboyance of a maki-e (sprinkled picture) bowl, it has a calm presence characteristic of antique lacquerware.
