This is a lacquerware kneading bowl made by hollowing out Japanese zelkova (keyaki) wood. The hollowed-out interior is designed for easy kneading. While Japanese horse chestnut (tochi) is famous for kneading bowls, this domestically-made bowl is made from the even more luxurious "keyaki" (zelkova) wood. The wood grain is beautiful, and its weight is favored when kneading soba or udon noodles. This item was purchased several decades ago. I kept it stored away because I paid a high price for it. I believe it is a truly valuable item now. The wood grain has a wonderful contrast, typical of zelkova. I would be happy if someone, including a craftsman, would use it with care. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions. ◾️Inner dimensions: 33.7cm x Outer dimensions: 35.7cm x Height: 11cm *Please allow for some margin of error. The box has some dirt and damage, but I will pack and ship the item in this box.
