"Tekunpe" and "Hoshi" are traditional Ainu ornaments. Tekunpe refers to "tekko" (hand armor) that protects the hands, and Hoshi refers to "kyahan" (leggings) that protect the legs. These items, especially those given by women to men, are adorned with heartfelt embroidery and are important items used in hunting, labor, and ceremonies. Tekunpe (Hand Armor) Role: To protect the hands during hunting, farming, and travel. Features: Often beautifully embroidered with Ainu patterns. Hoshi (Leggings) Role: To be worn on the legs for protection (leggings). Features: Similar to Tekunpe, women would carefully embroider them and give them to men.
