This is a giant Kijiyama kokeshi doll, approximately 26cm at the base and 115cm tall. Artist: Hisamune Takahashi (1930-2019) Lineage: Kijiyama Teacher: Tsuneji Ito Pupils: None [Biography] Born October 25, 1930, as the eldest son of Yoemon Takahashi. He studied woodturning under Tsuneji Ito from October 1972 and began making kokeshi dolls in October 1973. He had a large field behind his workshop at his home in Minase Village, Akita Prefecture, and made kokeshi dolls while continuing to farm. He passed away on September 3, 2019, at the age of 90 (in the traditional Japanese system of counting age).
