He became interested in metalworking after meeting Seiryo Manabe, who was a metalworker in the same city, and became his disciple. The "one-piece hammered out" technique, which Seiko later excelled at, was learned from Seiryo. After that, he inherited the "Sei" from his master, Seiryo Manabe, and changed his name to "Metalworker Seiko Kitamura" and began full-scale creative activities. He specialized in iron kettles, which are said to be particularly difficult among metalworking. Usually, iron kettles and silver kettles are made by separating the spout, called the "kuchisaki," from the main body. Therefore, there is a "seam" between the body and the spout. However, Seiko's works have no seams because the spout is shaped meticulously from a single metal plate using the hammering technique.
