At the end of the piece, the viola sings a poignant melody. The two works by the romantic British composer Bowen, and the "Church Sonata" by contemporary Austrian composer Leitner and Swiss composer Martin, are innovative pieces that add modern elements such as twelve-tone technique to the Baroque style.
