Similar patterns are still sold today, but this exact pattern and paper quality are from the past, so it's no longer sold and is considered very valuable. In the old days, these were called "Shioiri Ennyu Bukuro" and were small bags used to hold sesame salt sprinkled on red rice for celebrations. They seem to have been used for baby gifts, get-well gifts, and wedding celebrations. The fact that the pattern on the front shows through on the back is also a characteristic of the old days. These were stored at my parents' house, so there may be some minor stains. Please understand this before purchasing. There's also a small, nostalgic "pouch" (small envelope). Consider it a bonus.
