YAMAHA Wood Shell Air Seal System SSD065A This is a snare drum from the Stage Custom series, circa 2002. Around September, all parts were removed and overhauled. Hoops, lugs, tension bolts: cleaned and polished. Lug nuts lubricated. Strainers: disassembled, cleaned, and lubricated. Switch operates smoothly. Shell: cleaned and polished. Shell edges: edge reinforcement and polishing adjustment. Shell interior: base adjustment, three-coat dark mahogany lacquer finish. Overall, the metal parts show some minor wear, but the thick plating still shines beautifully. There is some rust that couldn't be completely removed on the lug washers and screws. Please check the 11th photo. There are a couple of shallow dents on the shell. See the 12th photo. The sound, which was previously quite loose and muddy, now has a crisp, clear attack! The response to quiet sounds has improved, and the peak power has increased, resulting in significantly more sound pressure. The dynamic range has expanded, and the tuning range has also widened. This is a Stage Custom that has been upgraded by about three grades. I think it easily delivers a sound quality comparable to drums in the 50,000 to 60,000 yen range. I recommend it not only for beginners but also for those looking for a cost-effective wood shell snare drum. The heads and snare wires are still usable, but they are included as a bonus.
