The kimono is said to be a famous Okinawan tsumugi (pongee). It's a real kimono, giving it a three-dimensional feel. Also, round picture frames like this are rare nowadays, and the frame's edge is said to be lacquer. The tassel hanging down really catches the eye. It's extra-large and has a strong impact. I inherited it from my grandmother, who ran a kimono wholesaler. It was displayed at the entrance of her very successful shop. It was a treasure of my grandmother, who was very particular about good fortune. There is a seal of the artist in the lower right, but my grandmother doesn't remember who it is.
