This publication traces the rediscovery of the Rinpa school through its works, starting with Sotatsu and Korin, then moving through the Edo Rinpa school, and into Japanese paintings of the Meiji, Taisho, and pre-war Showa periods. Furthermore, it broadens its scope to include modern Japanese Western-style paintings, Western art, and contemporary art, exploring Rinpa elements within these works and questioning the universality of Rinpa.
