It was a gift and was stored in the home of a family member born in the Taisho/early Showa era.

It appears to be synthetic fiber. It seems washable, which is convenient, but details are unknown as there are no tags.
It's a translucent material (polyester-like) similar to children's heko obi (soft sash) from the Showa era.
