This is a Hasamiyaki donburi bowl made in Hasami, Nagasaki Prefecture. It's a daily-use porcelain with traditional hand-painted designs. I love tableware and have collected a lot of it. Most of it is for work or entertaining, and is either unused or used only a few times. I purchased this myself from a kiln in Hasami, Nagasaki. It has been used only a handful of times, so there are no chips, cracks, or stains, and it's in beautiful condition. Issei Toki, a Hasami-yaki pottery, was founded in Hasami, Nagasaki Prefecture in 1980. They create tableware that combines the warmth of hand-painted designs with the functional beauty of everyday use. The traditional patterns are painted by artisans using gos (indigo blue) on white porcelain made from Amakusa pottery stone, and are very popular.
