This is a yakishime katakuchi (sake server) I purchased in Kirishima, Kyushu, a long time ago. I fell in love with this katakuchi at a kappo restaurant, captivated by its form and the beauty of its texture. I went straight to the kiln that I was told about. It's a piece by an artisan, and there's a signature near the bottom. Most katakuchi I see are flat with a wide opening, so I think the vertical shape is a bit unusual. There's a spot on the lip and one place on the body where ash has settled, creating a beautiful effect. The lip might look like it would be difficult to use, but it would be fine to repair with kintsugi (gold repair), or you can use it as is. My recommendation is to arrange seasonal flowers, a little tall, in it. It's a versatile piece that truly embraces any flower. Approximately 8.5cm x 10cm
