Impressions: The distortion quality sounded the same as a TS9. The 819 has a three-dimensional feel, coherence, and powerful low-end, to the point where you might mistake the TS9 for having separate high and low frequencies. This is because the 819 is a higher-gain pedal than the TS9, making it suitable for high-gain sounds. (In fact, even with the same knob settings, the gain is considerably higher, and the volume is slightly louder.) It achieves both the sound pressure of a stack amp and the brilliant distortion of a TS-style pedal. I could listen to this tube-amp-like, gritty sound all day long.
