Around the 1980s, he released a record as the band "Maneki Neko Unit," which seemed to be the last act of the folk scene in Kyoto. This album is arguably the real debut work of Shin Yamamoto, 56, as a blues-folk singer. The first song includes Kenji Tanaka's famous song "Boots ni Aoi Penki no Yogore (Blue Paint Stain on Boots)."
