This is a Canadian one-dollar coin issued by the Royal Canadian Mint. It is a commemorative coin issued only in 1995. The design features the "Peacekeeping Monument" in Ottawa. The monument, titled "Reconciliation," depicts three peacekeeping soldiers (two men and one woman) standing on a stone, recreating part of a peacekeeping operation. The monument is inscribed with a 1956 quote from Lester B. Pearson, a great Canadian politician: "We need actions not only to end the fighting, but to maintain it. Our government would like to encourage Canada's participation in such United Nations peacekeeping operations." Pearson was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1957 and is known as the "Father of UN Peacekeeping." This is a circulated coin, so there are scratches on the coin. Please check the photos.
