Kutani-yaki, a traditional craft of Ishikawa Prefecture, is characterized by its bold and gorgeous overglaze enamel decoration. Toshito Nakamura is a top-class traditional craftsman who, while following the Kutani-yaki tradition, realistically and expressively depicts the flora and fauna of the natural world. The attached wooden tag reads "Kutani-yaki Kiln, Toshito's Brush, Bird Design." Works with birds and nature as motifs are one of Mr. Toshito Nakamura's representative painting styles.
