This is ash from burning broadleaf trees (cherry, oak, Japanese oak, etc.). Large pieces of ash and embers have been removed using a sieve, resulting in a fine, powdery ash. Please use it for tea ceremony ash, removing the harshness from ingredients, pottery, or as initial ash for an irori (sunken hearth).
