This is an Arita-yaki cup and saucer set featuring a beautiful sometsuke (blue and white) design on white porcelain, and employing a technique known as "Hotaru-yaki" (firefly ware). Hotaru-yaki originates from Jingdezhen and uses openwork to softly capture light, giving the cherry blossom design a gentle appearance.
