This is the Varius series, considered to be Caran d'Ache's top-of-the-line ballpoint pen. This Alligator is a product that uses "black leather" (Black series), a limited edition of 500 pieces in a 7-pen SET released in 2008, whereas the regular Varius series uses brown leather. (I heard that only 50 sets were sold in Japan.) Also, unlike the regular product, the edition number is engraved on the butt.
