This is a traditional Kumamoto Hitoyoshi craft, a "Hana-tebako" (flower hand box). It is a local toy with over 800 years of history, connected to the Heike clan. This small box features a beautiful cedar wood grain and a gorgeous painting of camellias. Although it is unused, it was displayed for about two years, so I am listing it as "near new."
