The Akoya pearls used in this piece have not undergone color treatment, preserving the original color of the pearls, making it a special piece. Among cultured pearls, those that have survived two summers are called "Koshimono" (over-year pearls). Typically, pearls are cultivated for one year to develop their nacre layers. Pearls harvested from the shell after one year are called "Tonenmono" (this year's pearls). "Koshimono" pearls take longer to develop their nacre layers, resulting in thicker layers. When the nacre layers reach over 2000 layers, the thickness exceeds 0.4mm, resulting in high quality. Thick-nacre pearls are more resistant to aging and are said to maintain their beauty longer.
