I made a long skirt by unraveling a Meisen kimono. The original kimono still had the basting threads attached and showed no signs of being worn, but the white areas were slightly discolored. I tested a scrap of the fabric and found that the red dye bled significantly, so I did not wash it, but only disinfected it with a high-temperature iron. There are areas where the fabric has been sewn together to adjust the length (see center of photo 14 and bottom of photo 15). Please confirm. Therefore, I am selling this skirt at a lower price than skirt 177. The flashy patterned kimono has become a unique skirt. Upon closer inspection, it's a landscape painting depicting mountains, pine trees, and a five-story pagoda, which is very interesting. The fabric has a sheen and the characteristic firmness of Meisen, which is lovely. I've added long tucks, three in the front and three in the back, to reduce the volume. Although there's plenty of gathering, the tucks make the waist and hips look neat. Silk fabric is expensive, so I don't think I could easily buy fabric and make this. Unraveling old clothes is difficult, but it's wonderful to be able to enjoy the feel of genuine silk in everyday life. It's also a good point that you can enjoy the unique colors and combinations of Japan. I enjoy dressmaking specializing in straight stitching. I use old kimonos, such as Tsumugi, Meisen, and Komon, as well as obi and furoshiki, for remaking. Please consider this if you understand that there may be remaining threads, small holes, stains from used items, distortions, and double stitching. *Please avoid washing as much as possible, and after wearing, hang it on a hanger and let it breathe. *Items other than the skirt are for photography purposes. *There is no lining.
