In fact, the part with the greatest friction resistance in a drum pedal is this spring roller section, and making this a bearing significantly improves the pedal's movement. However, you might hesitate to spend 5,000 yen (10,000 yen for a twin pedal) on a low-priced pedal to attach Canopus Speed Master bearings (formerly Speed Star bearings). So, we created these grooved bearings. They have a simple shape, just the outer ring of an NSK stainless steel bearing with a groove cut into it (*), and because they don't have a heavy bearing holder like Speed Master bearings, the inertia is smaller, and the movement is more agile.
