The 4K digital remaster version includes new scenes that were cut from the original theatrical release. The setting is 1915. Roy, a stuntman who suffered a serious injury after falling from a bridge during a movie shoot, is in despair in his hospital bed and has become self-destructive. He meets Alexandria, a pure 5-year-old girl who is hospitalized with a broken arm from falling out of a tree. Roy, unable to move, wants Alexandria to bring him poison from the pharmacy to commit suicide, and to get her attention, he begins to tell her an improvised adventure story. It was a grand tale of six heroes who, having lost their loved ones and pride, and plunged into deep darkness, join forces to fight against evil. Tarsem invested his personal fortune in this independent film, with David Fincher and Spike Jonze providing production support. Eiko Ishioka, a world-renowned designer who won the Academy Award for Costume Design for "Dracula" and worked with Tarsem on "The Cell," was in charge of costume design.
