This is a "saki-ori" tote bag woven on a traditional loom (takabata). It is made by tearing and weaving the fabric of a yukata. The front (one side only) has a design with a leather accent. The handles are also made of the same leather. The handles show some fading from use. (Photos 8-10) The decorative leather button is handmade by the artist. There are no stains or dirt on the surface or inner bag. (Apologies if I missed anything.) The inner bag has a pocket, convenient for storing small items that are easily lost. The bag stands on its own because it has a stiff core. Saki-ori is often thought to be heavy, but this is a lightweight tote bag.
