At first glance, the fabric looks like tweed, but it's actually a cotton material with a wool-like Estelan blend that has excellent stretch. Unlike scratchy wool, it's soft, thick, and wrinkle-resistant. Unlike wool, it doesn't itch, feels good against the skin, and is comfortable to wear. The fabric is thick, about the same weight as heavy-ounce denim, making it perfect for the coming cold autumn and winter. While it looks solid from a distance, it has a birdseye pattern (as the name suggests, like a bird's eye). There is a boutonniere embroidery on the left side and near the back pocket.
