I've only used a rough whetstone, but the sharpness is outstanding. Upon investigation, the steel appears to be Shirogami (white paper steel). I recommend gradually sharpening it. The handle is not included as the water buffalo horn part is cracked. You can find inexpensive handles for a "deba knife 210mm" online.
