This peony arabesque pattern is from a group of dyed and woven products brought from China and other places from the Kamakura period to the early Edo period, and were produced in China during the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. Futsuki-ori (Futsuki Weave) is a type of weave where the front and back structures are switched according to the pattern, creating the same pattern with reversed colors on the front and back of the fabric.
