Pure silk Length: 342cm Width: 30.5cm This is a stunning summer Nagoya obi featuring a cream-colored sha (gauze) fabric with a lavish, hand-embroidered design of a flower cart overflowing with summer and early autumn flowers such as hibiscus, Chinese bellflower, pinks, Japanese bush clover, and kudzu. It is a magnificent piece, suitable for pairing with antique single-layered or summer kimonos, and also beautiful enough to be enjoyed as a work of art. I purchased it a few years ago from an antique kimono shop in Tokyo. There is some fraying of the silver thread at the end of the tare (hanging part), some slight sagging, a faint stain on the lower part of the mae-obi (front band), and a slight abrasion of the embroidery on the edge of the otaiko (back design). There is also a faint stain on the lower part of the otaiko, but it would be hidden when tied in a normal otaiko knot. It is in good condition for an antique summer obi, and those who love antiques will likely find it still very usable. Recommended for those accustomed to and fond of antique items.
