A very pleasing clay doll. The stamp says "Fukuhara," so it's likely made by Eijiro Fukuhara. He created many clay and papier-mâché dolls, which are local toys of Aomori. Aomori clay dolls originated and developed between the Meiji and Taisho periods, influenced by the Shimogawara dolls. A major characteristic of Aomori clay dolls is that they are made by hand-molding, not using molds, so each doll has a unique character. He was born in the Meiji era and began producing around 1932. He left behind many works of both clay and papier-mâché dolls, and production ceased after his death in 1978. A somewhat unusual chicken.
