Dragon Wings Warbirds diecast finished model series 1/72 F-14D Tomcat, Black Lions, brand new and unopened. The F-14 is a fleet air defense fighter, developed to counter the Soviet Union's saturation attack tactics of launching a large number of air-to-ship missiles from long-range bombers. The F-14's capabilities are specialized for air defense. This is for use as an interceptor against attack aircraft, and the F-14 is a fighter developed under a different design philosophy from the F-15 and F/A-18, which emphasize close-range combat. The U.S. Navy's F-14s were gradually replaced by the F/A-18E/F fighter-attack aircraft, which are improved and developed versions of the F/A-18, and all aircraft were completely retired on September 22, 2006, with the disbandment of VF-31 Tomcatters. The D-type mainly replaced the radar with the digital AN/APG-71. There are two types of those actually deployed: those newly manufactured and those modified from the A-type, the former being called the F-14D. This aircraft reproduces the aircraft of the U.S. Navy Atlantic Fleet, 1998, the 213th Fighter Squadron Black Lions, which was deployed on the aircraft carrier "Carl Vinson".
