Unlike Edwards, the second brand of ESP, the E-II uses ESP-class wood and is produced in Japan by ESP. It's a higher-grade instrument that offers sophisticated high-end sound, setting it apart from Ltd and Edwards. It doesn't have the light, "gachagacha" feel of recent Japanese high-end basses like Kikuchi or Xotic, which prioritize the mid-to-high mid frequencies, nor is it extremely scooped. This bass fulfills the necessary conditions of a "good bass," offering a well-balanced, rich, and full tone. It has a deep low-to-low-mid range reminiscent of vintage Japanese basses, Moon, and early ATELIER Z, along with a thick, responsive, and clear mid-range, making it a truly appealing instrument. While I initially thought it might be similar to the AMAZE series, the rich bass sound is closer to the AP, and it's fantastic. It's not a high-gain type often found in Ibanez or ESP, but the tension of the super-long scale, combined with the sound's clarity when distorted, makes it highly compatible.
