This is a great album featuring unreleased tracks by Kenny Burrell, the bluesy jazz guitarist who enjoys undying popularity, recorded for Blue Note. It's a collection of performances by four different groups recorded between 1956 and 1959, and is particularly noteworthy for the participation of Tina Brooks, a tenor saxophonist who rarely recorded and is considered a phantom of the instrument. Other top-tier musicians also participate in the sessions, including Duke Jordan, Tommy Flanagan, Bobby Timmons, and Roland Hanna (p), Junior Cook and Frank Foster (ts), Sam Jones, Oscar Pettiford, and Ben Tucker (b), and Shadow Wilson and Art Blakey (ds). All of the performances are excellent, and it's a mystery why they were never released. This was once released by King Records, but is now very rare. The content is outstanding and highly recommended. If you're looking for this, don't miss this opportunity!
