● ART Tube MP modified by Black Lion Audio Mod. ◯ The ART Tube MP has been a long seller for over 30 years. Although it's called "Tube MP," it's often misunderstood as a tube microphone preamp. However, the microphone preamp section is a discrete circuit with 6 transistors, followed by an op-amp → tube buffer → op-amp balanced output circuit, making it a hybrid configuration. ART's pricing is exceptionally low, leading to it being perceived as cheap, but considering the board construction and design, it's remarkably well-made compared to others in the same price range. The original sound is "thick, warm = less high-end, soft focus," but the modified sound quality is clear and has a solid core due to the discrete components. By increasing the voltage of the tube plate and op-amp, headroom is increased, and the high-end frequencies characteristic of high-speed op-amps are also present, resulting in a completely different and improved sound compared to the original. ◯ Most of the modifications followed the specifications of the famous Black Lion Audio mod. The diodes in the power supply section, smoothing capacitors, signal path capacitors, op-amps were replaced, and resistors were also replaced with audio-grade metal film resistors. The decoupling capacitors in the signal path are large-capacity film capacitors and good-sounding tantalum capacitors, made by Nichicon for audio use. The op-amps are a high-speed National Semiconductor LM6172 for the input stage and a high-speed Linear Technology LT1364 for the output stage. The tube is the original Chinese-made one, but approximately 50 components have been replaced in total. ◯ This unit comes with a large 2A adapter.
