(Ko-Imari) Old Imari ware, produced in the Arita area during the Edo period and shipped from Imari Port. This blue and white porcelain teacup uses the Ko-sometsuke technique, with patterns of plants and birds painted in indigo pigment (gosu). During the Edo period (mainly from the 17th to 18th centuries), "Ko-sometsuke" referred not just to old Imari ware, but specifically to sometsuke (blue and white) porcelain from the old trading routes.
