This is a lidded jar, size 2, from Hisamatsu Gama kiln. Hisamatsu Gama was a famous kiln that had been producing miso and tsukemono (pickled vegetables) jars using the traditional Tokoname-yaki (Tokoname ware) method. However, the kiln closed in 2013, making these jars rare and difficult to obtain. Suitable for storing miso, umeboshi (pickled plums), tsukemono, etc., it excels in breathability and heat retention, suppressing the growth of bacteria while aiding the activity of lactic acid bacteria and yeast. It has been used for many years by both general households and professionals. The size 2 is an easy-to-use size for preparing small amounts of miso, umeboshi, nukazuke (rice bran pickles), etc., and is a popular size for those using a Hisamatsu Gama jar for the first time. The "Hisamatsu Gama" stamp is on the bottom of the jar. The stamp is shallow, and may be difficult to see in photos or with the naked eye depending on the lighting, but you can clearly feel the raised and recessed characters by tracing them with your finger.
