I purchased these at the park to decorate my home with a Mickey and Minnie couple, but I'm selling them due to a move. There are no noticeable smells or stains. I didn't hug them, but I did display them in a dark place for about six months after purchase. Please refrain from purchasing if you are concerned, as they have been stored by a non-professional.
