This is a Yanagiba Hon-yaki knife with the Yoshichika mark from Fujisawa Hamono in Yamagata Prefecture. Purchased new, it has been sharpened by a professional sharpener, with the entire surface finished to a perfect mirror polish, highlighting the Hamon (blade pattern). It has a very beautiful midareba (irregular blade pattern). I believe it will perform at its best even when used. It might also be good for display on a counter.
