This is an obi締め (sash tie) that resembles a braided cord. I believe it was the type worn by Ichimatsu dolls in period pieces, but I'm not certain. The ends of the cord are formed into round beads to prevent fraying. As it is an antique item, there is a slight discoloration and a general sense of aging. Because it is thin, it would likely be suitable for an Ichimatsu doll around size 12, but it might also be interesting to cut it in half and use it as a haori cord for a boy's outfit.
