While traveling in Russia, you'll come across Matryoshka dolls being sold in various places. Those shops have large Matryoshka dolls and small ones, featuring famous people from around the world like Putin and Queen Elizabeth, as well as dolls in various national costumes. I had a fun time shopping, seeing all the different designs. I wasn't very interested in the ones modeled after famous people, so I was drawn to those with traditional costumes or seasonal themes, like Christmas. Originally, it seems they were inspired by the Hakone nesting dolls modeled after Japan's Seven Lucky Gods, but now, Matryoshka dolls seem to have higher recognition and popularity. I also bought several, from slightly larger ones to tiny ones, as souvenirs of my trip to Russia!
