This is an Echizen-nuri kaiseki tray. It has a black lacquer finish with a gold Japanese bellflower (kikyo) design, and the red edges are angled upwards. It was likely a gift and appears to be either unused or used only once. Some trays have very small scratches when viewed closely, but overall they are in good condition. The surface is smooth.
